Get Consistent Strategic Results with Organizational Constellations

The organizational constellation method is a spatial representation of a system.

The elements of the system can be people, functions, services, products or ideas.

During the process of the constellation, representatives for these elements can be people, floor markers or figures.

These representatives are placed in a spatial relationship to each other and the system is now portrayed symbolically, reflecting the organization's inner image of the given situation.

Organizational constellations are an intervention that help you look behind the appearance of a problem and come to the root cause.

Constellations can be used for solving many issues within an organization such as:

  • Strategic Goal Setting
  • Allocation of Resources
  • Overcoming Obstacles within Groups or Staff
  • Areas of Focus
  • The Best Option Right Now (for staff, products, services, brand, etc.)
  • What are the Other Options?

Because organizational constellations include the subconscious level, they bring together issues and contrasts that were previously considered incompatible.

The results are fast and complete, specific and above all they are solution and process oriented.

Organizational constellations initiate focused and long-term development, and as a diagnostic instrument they can be used to answer questions such as:

  • What is going on in this situation, this organization or system
  • How do I manage my business best?
  • What can I add to improve or grow the organization?
  • What area(s) or issue(s) need my attention?
  • Is the staff functioning well?
  • How should I set up or re-org an organization?
  • What is my own position in this organization?
  • How can we prevent burnout?

How are the results applied?

Systemic organizational constellations initiate focused and long-term development, and as a diagnostic instrument they can be used to answer questions such as:

  • Clarity in tasks, functions or assignment of responsibilities
  • Finding relationship difficulties between staff
  • Uncovering hierarchical conflicts
  • Revealing the next right step, product or service

To get the full benefit of an organizational constellation, a certain approach is needed.

Some of the key conditions for an organizational constellation to work are listed here:

  • The people/persons requesting the constellation needs to be part of the system the question is about
  • The people/persons requesting the constellation needs to be part of the solution; in other words, they need to be able to do something about the issue presented in real life
  • The questions regarding the issue or problem need to be sincere, a pressing issue works best
  • A constellation does not help if an internal decision has already been made
  • A constellation cannot reduce consequences, it will not soften harsh reality
  • The task still has to be done and the responsibility still has to be assumed
  • Organizational constellations are not fortune telling

The decision maker(s) has to bear the full consequences of any decision made and in full view of those implicated by the decision. For example, an employee cannot do a constellation on the management, he or she cannot change anything there.

In review, Organizational Constellations are an incredibly effective tool that will save you months or years of endless meetings and consultations.
